The series Looking for Lisa, consists of 40 black and white photographs that concentrate on five families. The work is not necessarily about the families I photographed. Instead, taken from the perspective of childhood, they have emerged from a place where I unknowingly stored feelings and images associated with childhood. The interaction with my subjects has allowed me to discover and re experience some of what I experienced as a child. Through this series of photographs, I hope to suggest the complexities of intimate interaction, those of fear, loss, dissolution and loneliness. Drawn from a need to articulate my early experiences, my parents bitter divorce and my younger sister Lisa's sudden death, my photographs reveal an emotional connection, one that is too enigmatic to describe fully in words.

The series of photographs, Looking for Lisa, affirms for me the worth and depth of childhood memories, offering a window onto a complex, subjective world.
